Alex & Chau are getting married!

I had the pleasure of meeting Alex & Chau yesterday for an engagement session in San Francisco. They will be getting married later this year. Get this... they met at her sister and his best friend's wedding! She was the Maid of Honor and he was the Best Man! Isn't that awesome! What fun family functions they will have! I had a blast with Brittney & Mike last week. I love it when I get a couple that totally hams up the camera. Mike told Brittney afterward the shoot that he could get used to having someone take photos of him all day! lol! They make such a cute couple!

I also love it when clients take me someplace that is special to them. Mike & Brittney brought me to the pier in San Francisco where he proposed. They warned me that it was not the most 'picture-esque' place. Brittney and I could not hold ourselves back from laughing at Mike and he explained his story of the proposal. He is so cute and had the greatest intentions, but this pier was definitely a site and it didn't smell too good either. It was pretty funny, we still made sure we got some cool shots because this was such a special place!

My very special Christmas Gift!

As most of you know, I have an amazing year coming up! Not only do I have many weddings to photograph, which I am very excited about, but I am also getting married!

During my annual shopping trip in SF with my Mom & sister the day after Thanksgiving, somehow we came up with the idea of me getting my wedding shoes as my Christmas gift! So, of course we visited Saks and Neimen’s to try on some sexy Manolo's. I fell in love, but of course, the stores only had them in black. The following week I investigated a little and came to realize that Manolo's cannot be specially ordered on the internet and that they would have to be purchased from Manolo Blahnik themselves. When I called Manolo, they informed me that if they did not have my size it would take 6 - 9 MONTHS to get them specially ordered! Since my wedding is 9 months away, that is quite a risk!

My mom then took over and contacted them and they also told her that if the shoes don't work out that they can be returned for store credit only! After hearing this, I pretty much gave up and told my mom not to worry about it. Trust me... I won’t have a problem finding a fabulous pair of shoes!

Christmas came along and I had quite a few presents under the tree. The third box I opened was an over-sized box filled tissue paper. I sifted through the paper and found a white cloth bag with MANOLO BLAHNIK looking right at me. I smiled and looked at my mom, thinking there was a gift certificate inside (my family is big on home-made gift certificates). As I looked inside the bag, I realized that there were actually shoes in there! My eyes began to well up with tears and I started crying. It was an amazing gift and I was completely surprised. I have to hand it to my mom for keeping me fooled all along. She said Manolo was awesome to work with, they had my size in and she received them in 2 days. They are absolutely stunning on!

I have a friend who does custom LETTERPRESS wedding invitations! Or any invitations for that matter. I met Olivia "Via" through a friend of mine and visited her at the Olive-Route studio in Oakland. She gave me a demonstration of how it works and I took photos of some of her recent work for her website, www.olive-route.com. Her custom designs and letterpress work is amazing. A gift for her new hubby...

I'm Engaged!!!

My incredible boyfriend woke me up Saturday morning telling me he had decided to skip his regular basketball game with the guys for a 'Jen Day' starting with going out to breakfast. I typically don't wake up very easily, but the minute I heard 'Jen Day' and 'Breakfast' I was up and in the shower. Breakfast usually means we walk downtown to Mel's Diner, which we love to do, but he was feeling more like going somewhere. So, he took me to Sausalito and we chose to eat at Horizons, which is a great restaurant on the water. I had a crab melt... I LOVE CRAB!

So, we enjoyed our brunch, and then went on a little walk around the water's edge. There are a bunch of rocks and a little walkway at the edge of the bay when we stopped and hung out for a little while. He was very cuddly and cute, and I was very much enjoying myself, however it was EXTREMELY windy and I didn't have a hair tie! So, as I was about ready to continue on with our walk, he kept procrastinating. He was so funny, he kept grabbing my hands and looking at me and kissing me and talking about how he 'thinks he'll keep me' and I started to realize what he was doing... But... he still didn't do it for another 10 minutes! It was pretty cute; obviously he hasn't done this before! Finally, he looked up and me and said "So, will you marry me?" and before even seeing the ring I SAID YES!!!

Then, he takes the ring out of his pocket and opens it and I was just in awe! It is so beautiful! The first thing I said was "It's HUGE!" With a worried look on his face he asked "Is it too big?” I started to laugh and said "No" - but he was actually referring to the size of the ring, not the diamond :)

Once we were done giving loves to each other, we walked back to the car. Because he took so long to get the words out, we got a parking ticket! Good memento :)

He then proceeded to tell me that we had to head home because he had dinner reservations in the city and got a room at the Fairmont! We had an incredible dinner at Bobo's - he had steak, I had roasted garlic crab (basically the only two items they served – our two favorite things besides bacon!) and we shared a bottle of D cubed Zinfandel. Everything was delicious. Afterward, my parents happened to also be in the city and wanted us to meet them for a drink. Both my brother and sister work at restaurants about a block away from each other in the city, so we headed that direction. My sister's shift ended earlier, so she came with us to my brother's restaurant where he was bartending. It was really cool getting to see my family for a quick cocktail to celebrate our engagement. They are thrilled! He is such an amazing guy.

My best friend is getting married!

Yep! My best friend in the whole wide world is getting married this October and guess who gets to be her maid of honor? ME!

My first duty as the Maid of Honor is the Bridal Shower! Jen (yes her name is also Jen!), wanted a tea party theme. So we planned a nice tea party and had everyone wear sun dresses with big hats and gloves! It was fun!

My parents were nice enough to host the party at their place since there is no way my little tiny place could hold 30 people. The cool thing about it being at my parent's house is that Jen, who is an Interior Designer, just got done redecorating their house! So she got to show off a little bit of her stuff to everyone!

So, I desinged and hand-made the invitations, they were very cute... The front said "You're invited to a Tea Party!" and the inside said "Come share a spot of tea, in honor of the Bride to be!" I know... a little cheesy, but it was cute... My mom also got a bunch of antique teacups from several of her friends to mix in with her own set... so cute...

I had a menu with 4 different tea sandwiches, a mixed berry salad, scones, and chocolates. Because of the scorching hot weather, we had to move the party inside last minute, but the hand-made fans were still put to good use inside, since you could still only cool the place down to 85! My mom got a cake made from Kartina Rozelle, that was probably the best cake I have EVER tasted. Seriously.

The hit of the party... We had Mar-TEA-ni's! Ha-ha! They were a HUGE hit! I had three different flavors and we drank them out of little tea cups! Aparently, my pour was a little heavy because we had to send my poor dad out to get more vodka! All in all, I think it was a hit!

A girlfriend of mine from high school, Alexis, came into town (she now lives on the east coast). I was completely slammed when she came into town, but I tried squeezing her in during the time her beautiful baby girl, Ella, would be awake. Ella is so cute, you could just squeeze her all day long and never get tired of it! She was still adjusting to the time change, so she wasn't as giggly as I know she usually is. Regardless, we got some cute shots!

The amazingly talented Jennifer King of MAKEUP HOUSE (www.makeuphouse.com) needed a photographer to help carry out her latest visions for hair and make-up design. So of course I was thrilled to accept the job!!! Once I got an idea of her vision, I was able to think of some locations to pull it all together. We had two incredible models that were so sexy and did a fantastic job with giving us the look that Jennifer wanted. Special thanks to Meg, "Grimm", and the whole entourage that helped make this shoot so much fun!

Christine and I had been in contact for over a month before she could scheulde a time where her husband (who works out of the home), would not be around so she could surprise him with a SexyBook for their 1 year anniversary. Baby Jackson turns 7 months!!!

Boy, do I have a lot of catching up to do... First off, Babjy jackson turns 7 months! One of the things I love about my job is watching the little ones grow and develop their own little personalities. I've been photographing Jackson since he was 2 weeks old and he has gotten so big! Our last session together was the first time I got to see him start to get a little personality of his own. He's teething now, so we got lots of drool and a little bit of crying, but all in all he is still a really happy baby and has such a bright smile. Our nest shoot will be in a couple of months when he is crawling! Here are a couple of shots from our photo shoot.

Stacy & Guy are getting married next month and to celebrate their engagemnet they wanted to have their first photo shoot as a family with Guy's son, Kai. He was so cute, such a little ham! When Stacy was proposed to she didn't get the typical 'Will you marry me?" from Guy, she got the honor of having both Guy and Kai getting down on one knee and proposing "Will you marry us?". I had the opportunity of photographing Chris & Kelly's with my friend Eric in Chico. The Centerville Estate was amazing! It sits on 25 acres in Butte Creek Canyon with over a quarter acre of lush landscaped grounds featuring paved pathways through tall shade trees, flower gardens, elegant fountains, a rock waterfall, and a private sitting area at the edge of Butte Creek. Kelly is a gorgeous and so down to earth and her new husband is such a genuine guy. When they look at each other, it is like no one else exists in this world, their love was so fun to capture. Afterwards we followed them to the Normal Street Bar where they both were bartenders, met, and fell in love...

Mark + Stacy

Mark & Stacy's wedding was beautiful! The Martinelli Event Center is a fairly new addition to the Garre Winery family and it is such a gorgeous site! Their wedding was a fun event to shoot and their families were such a pleasure to work with. Stacy was just stunning in her gown and was grinning from ear to ear the entire day, and for good reason, Mark is an amazing guy! Here is a sneak peak of their wedding day:

Shane + Lily

I shot a wonderful intimate wedding Thursday morning in Half Moon Bay at the Hastings House, which had a beautiful garden area. Afterward we went down to the beach to take some fun shots. We had a great time and Shane & Lily were amazing in front of the camera! Here's a quick sneak peak.

Dustin + Elizabeth

Last weekend I photographed Dustin & Elizabeth's Wedding at St. Dominic's in Benecia and then their reception at the Travis Air Base. I had such a wonderful time with these two and their families were so warm and welcoming, I felt like I had known them for years! Dustin is such a genuine guy for Elizabeth, you can tell just by looking at him how much in love he is with hs wife. They also have two of the most beautiful little girls I have ever seen. It was such a joy capturing their special day. After the ceremony, we stopped off at an awesome site to grab some shots of just the bride & groom. The images are amazing!!! So great, that of course I can't resist sharing a little sneak peak!

It was so hard to only select a few to post so stay tuned for a slide show in a few weeks!

Tiffany Roberts Soccer Camp

Most people from around here are familiar with the name Tiffany Roberts. She was a member if the first ever gold medal winning team at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, a member if the World Cup championship team that brought women's soccer into historic attention during the summer of 1999 and grew up right here in San Ramon, California. She has had a very decorated career thus far and has succeeded in far too many accomplishments for me to list. After traveling with her teams for the past 10 years, she is back with her husband Tim and are proud to introduce Tiffany Roberts Soccer. Their goal is to share what they have learned by offering programs that are designed to bring young players close to soccer's top athletes, coaches and role models. I had the opportunity to photograph one of their sessions, here are a couple of shots from the session! The girls were so cute!

New Salads at Primo's!

A fresh & fun assignment... Anyone that has known me for longer than 5 years, would know that I worked as a waitress and manager at Primo's Restaurant in Danville while in college. I have maintained my close relationship with the Primo's Family and on occasion will even pick up a shift! They are introducing a new line of fresh salads and wraps and needed help with their marketing campaign. So, I am helping with the photography and ad campaign, it's a nice little change of pace! Here's a couple of shots and a mock up of one of the posters.

Oh, and when I was done, I got to sample and let me tell you... The wraps are awesome!

Custom Table Cards

My best friend is getting married this October and it is my first time being a Maid of Honor EVER! She had the idea the other day to use one of her engagment photos as for her table number displays. Mark + Stacy Engagements

Last Friday I photographed Mark & Stacy's Engagments. We got a little late start and the sun was quite bright, but we managed to get some great shots that shows just how in love with each other they really are. We traveled the Livermore Wineries, then went back to their house for a few more casual shots with their dog. Needless to say, we had a blast and I think warmed Mark up to this whole picture taking thing! Here are some of my favorites!

Ivy's Bridal Session

I am so lucky to have so many beautiful brides wanting bridal portraits! Ivy and her mother and sister were such a joy to work with. We started out at the Legion of Honor, which unknown to me was CLOSED on Mondays.... But we worked around that minor set back. We then drove to the Presidio and stopped off at Crissy Field. With Ivy being very carefree in her gown on the field, we captured so many beautiful shots. Literally, she took my breath away standing there. I had a tough time stopping... It's only my favorite thing to do! We then got lost on our way back to the Legion of Honor, thank goodness for Ivy's cell phone navigation capability. Needless to say, I don't think any of us will ever get lost going from the Presidio to the Legion of honor ever again! Here are a couple of my favorite shots of the day.

Karen's Bridal Session

I had the pleasure of photographing Karen's bridal portraits before she gets married next month. She was amazing! So carefree and fun to photograph! Not to mention drop dead gorgeous! We had a really great time, I picked her and her really sweet friend Rocky up and we drove around town looking for some good backdrops. Rocky was a perfect assistant! We got some great shots and kept the dress clean! Here are a couple of my favorites.

Shena's having a baby!

So it is still raining here in Northern California, so we had to improvise for Jen's Bridal Session. I am offering a new photo shoot for brides this year, Fashion Bridal Sessions. What better way to see if your hair and make-up trials look good with the dress than to have a photo shoot afterwards? Since our location options were slim, we opted for my place. Baby Jackson

Last week was Baby Jackson's second photo shoot. He is four months now and so cute! We started out in his room, then his brothers' room and then ventured outside where we propped him up against a mini fence. I find that photographing babies and small children in their own environment where they feel most comfortable is the best place for me to capture all aspects of their little personalities. What can I say, I love babies...

Caden's first photo shoot
